Consolacion, Mandaue enter Gov’s Cup playoffs
Consolacion and Mandaue City are off to the Governor’s Cup 2018 Basketball Tournament playoffs after finishing at the top of the North Division Bracket 1 the other night at the Consolacion Gym.
Consolacion swept the group stage with a lopsided 100-51 win over Danao City.
It was total team effort by Consolacion, with five different players scoring in double digits.
Jessie Bathan led the group with 20 points, Rey Gonzaga logged 18, Froiland Maglasang chipped in 17, Emmanuel Villamor scored 11 and Patrick Montaño had 10 points.
Eds Vallena and Tim Pasaje scored 10 points each for Danao City.
Mandaue City, in the meantime, got a much-needed victory to claim the other playoff spot after Danao City lost to Consolacion.
Mandaue City and Danao City had identical 3-1 records before their final elimination round games.
Mandaue City defeated Cordova, 101-87, led by a 33-point performance by Al-je Mendez.
Paul Sungahid chipped in 14, while Niño Paras and Ardie Buscay added 11 markers apiece.
Christian Tahor led Cordova with 21 points, while Karl Ventura scored 20. Mikecef Degamo and Jerico Rosales were also in double figures with 15 and 12 respectively.
Consolacion and Manaue City join Tuburan,Balamban, Medellin, Bantayan in the North Division playoffs. The last two slots in the North Division playoffs are currently up for grabs by teams in Bracket 2 – Poro, Borbon, San Francisco, Tudela, Catmon and Sogod. /
