Olango Island villages to be declared drug-free

-

Ten out of the 11 barangays in Olango Island in Lapu-Lapu City were recommended to be declared drug-free.

These are Barangays Baring, Caw-oy, Sabang, Santa Rosa, Talima, Tingo, Tungasan, San Vicente, Caohagan and Pangan-an. Barangay Caubian has already been declared free from illegal drugs previously.

“There’s an endorsement nga ipa-drug clear ang barangays. Most of those are from Olango,” said Mayor Paz Radaza.

Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said that he already endorsed a recommendation to the Department of the Interior and Local Government 7. It will then be validated by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Monitor

Radaza, meanwhile, wants barangays in mainland Lapu-Lapu to be monitored by a group under her office.

The City Government has established Task Force Kontra Drogas, which will help police in their anti-illegal drug campaign.

Cabagnot said the task force will help police document their anti-illegal drug operation.

The City also established Task Force Malasakit where women and children can report any abuses against them.

The City led by Radaza together with City Hall officials and police launched the Task Force Kontra Drogas and Task Force Malasakit yesterday.
