THE ADARNAS AND FRIENDS OPEN NEW BAR
The clock strikes 6 p.m. and the doors of the newest watering hole in town open and await those who have also just clocked out from work. Bespoke furniture, a well-stocked bar, pool tables, and its warm lighting and vibe remind one of a proper British pub. Its menu is a combination of classic British pub grub and Filipino bar chows.
The Tavern, a rock and roll-inspired bar on the second level of Queensland Manor on F. Rahmann St., Cebu City is the brainchild of Danton Adarna, Rico Adarna, Ellen Adarna, John James Dy and Jed Galang. A group of friends who wanted a more relaxed hangout, they transformed a 300-square-meter space into a place decked out with large windows, custom tables, high stools and framed text on walls. “We wanted to make Cebu’s bar scene a little more diverse, and we wanted The Tavern to be a mellowed down version of other bars,” said Galang. The Tavern also caters to private functions, whether it’s a party of 15 or 150.
They say that the factors that
set apart a good bar from a great one are the service, food and drinks selection, prices, location, décor and atmosphere. With its friendly and prompt service, reasonably priced beers, spirits and cocktails, tasteful and well thought out interiors, central yet secret location, and music that allows for easy conversations, The Tavern is fast becoming a favorite among locals and tourists. There’s more to look forward to as it will soon be introducing acoustic nights on weekends, wing and beer pairing, trivia nights and billiard competitions.
The Tavern is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
