Not a love story?

- ROGER SERNA rodzsugbo88@gmail.com

Titles are a big thing to me. Be it a title of a poem, song, book, novel, show, movie, series or anything. Titles always catch my attention. There are titles that are so beautifully crafted while there are also ones which make you wonder how on earth they came to the mind of the writer.

Good titles do not always ensure a beautiful story though. Similarly, bad titles do not mean bad stories. So when promo materials of the movie “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story” came up, netizens expressed their wonderment because in the trailer a lot of “I love yous” were thrown by the characters of Anne Curtis and Dingdong Dantes.

Still, not a love story? That’s for us to find out as the movie is showing in cinemas nationwide.

For the second time, I was not able to savor the taste of the tropical fruit sineguelas, not because of scarcity but because I did not bother looking for it in the market.

The fruit appears during the hot dry season. Unlike the fruit, taking a dip in clear seawater during the season is something I cannot afford to miss. Going to the beach brings back beautiful childhood-to-adulthood memories.

Rain falling every now and then gave me the chill of missing out on the fun and excitement of going to the beach in groups. A fear for jellyfish stings was a factor.

So when a former classmate organized an outing in a mountain resort that has more than one swimming pool, I immediately grabbed the opportunity.

Wondering as to how the sineguelas tastes this year appears immaterial.
