‘Cebu has most number of LGUs that implemented rehab program’
Half of the local government units (LGUs) in Cebu Province were able to fully implement their community-based treatment program (CBTP) for drug surrenderers, more than any province in Central Visayas.
Based on an April 2018 report provided by the Department of Health (DOH), 25 out 50 LGUs in Cebu Province have fully implemented the CBTP, while 15 have partially implemented the program. Ten LGUs, on the other hand, have not implemented it yet.
CPADAO executive director Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca said the data provided by DOH shows that their work is starting to pay off.
“It’s really an advantage on our part that there is an office that monitors the progress of the towns and cities,” she said.
Meca believes that close coordination among the Province, LGUs and various agencies such as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is an advantage in ensuring that the barangay drug clearing program is being implemented.
In Bohol, DOH said, none of the 48 LGUs was able to fully implement their CBTPs.
Of the number, the agency said 42 partially implemented the program, while six failed to implement it.
In Negros Oriental, only one out of 25 LGUs fully implemented their CBTPs, garnering only a four percent implementation rate.
There are two LGUs in the same province that were able to partially implement their CBTPs while 22 failed to implement the program.
In Siquijor, none of the six LGUs in the province were able to fully implement their CBTPs but they were able to partially implement them. /
