DAVIDE: PROVINCE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH PUBLICITY
Gov. Davide justifies hiring of advertising agency, says that despite efforts of the Province’s public information offices, little is known about their projects and services. The P3.2-million budget for the ad agency will help promote the Capitol’s progra
Gov. Hilario Davide III sees nothing wrong with hiring an advertising agency to handle publicity matters for the Province.
Davide said this after the Capitol was criticized for its plan to spend P3.2 million to hire an advertising firm.
In an interview, Davide said that hiring an advertising agency aims to cover areas that cannot be reached by the Provincial Information Office’s (PIO) campaign.
The advertising agency could help promote his administration’s projects and programs as well as their accomplishments, Davide said.
“Kung PIO lang, well right now we don’t get enough publicity for what we’re doing diri sa Probinsya. Daghan gihapon ang nangita hain na man ning nabuhat ni Davide. Sa iyang administrasyon unsa’y accomplishment niini, dili man nato makita,” Davide said.
Before the plan to hire an advertising agency, it’s the PIO’s and the Province’s paid programs in various radio stations that promoted programs and projects of the Capitol administration.
Although the PIO has been working on promoting the Province’s programs, Davide said that little is known about the services and projects that the Provincial Government has made available to the public.
SunStar Cebu tried to get the side of public information officer Mark Tolentino but text and calls to his phone were not answered.
Davide also denied that the hiring of an advertising agency is meant to boost his campaign for next year’s election.
