‘PROBLEMATIC’ AGENCIES TO BE UNDER PRESIDENT

-

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, June 6, revealed his plan to make “radical changes” and put “problematic” government offices under presidential supervision.

He announced that there would also be changes in public order and security, as he vented frustrations over the proliferation of “too many crimes” under his watch.

He hinted that he might either declare a martial law or a state of national emergency, should the situation in the country get out of hand.

“I thank God that he gave me the opportunity to serve my country so that there will be changes in the coming days, including public order and security. There are simply too many crimes and too many claiming to be this and that,” Duterte said.

“Most of the complaints here is they would not go here because they are afraid of getting kidnapped or being killed. Well, somehow, even with this meager emergency power, I will use it to the hilt and put things in order,” he added.

Duterte said he will wield his powers “to the hilt.”

“To those who are in government, I will make radical changes in the days to come,” the President said upon arrival in Manila early Wednesday from his threeday official visit in South Korea.

“For those offices that I could not really control, I will place you under the Office of the President. You will then have to face me every day,” he added.
