Consolacio­n, Alegria, Medellin stay unbeaten

North Division champion Consolacio­n and top seeded teams Medellin and Alegria stayed unbeaten in the Governor’s Cup 2018 Basketball Tournament with wins in the quarterfin­al round.

Consolacio­n edged out San Francisco, 94-92, in the Consolacio­n Municipal Gym.

Patrick Montaño was scorching hot, leading Consolacio­n with 31 points. Three other Consolacio­n players scored in double digits: Leobert Casinillo scored 21, Emmanuel Villamor had 15, and Rey Gonzaga added 12.

Jake Gonzalez led San Francisco with 19 markers, Reynaldo Almacin contribute­d 15, while Kenny Rogers Rocacurva and Reden Wenceslao had 12 apiece.

Medellin beat Tuburan, 78-74, in the Balamban Municipal Gym.

Gelmart Umpad led Medellin with 24 points, Matthew Booc had 13, Marjon Banigon added 12, and Fritz Saladaga scored 10. Joycelee Oropiano topscored for Tuburan with 24. Raindee Sipalay chipped in 14 and Mike Parilla had 11.

Alegria, on the other hand, outclassed Barili, 109-69, in the Samboan Municipal Gym.

Rojan Montemayor was Alegria’s top scorer with 22 points, Cris Garcia and Patrick Devila scored 18 each, and Clif Leproso had 10.

Karl Caballero led Barili with 12, while Joshua Bayating added 10.

In other quartfinal games, Balamban won against Bantayan, 7266; Mandaue City thrashed Borbon, 92-64; and Ginatilan beat Dumanjug, 88-75./
