Phoenix Petroleum targets 250 golfers for third edition of golf tournament at Cebu Country Club on June 22

-

Phoenix Petroleum will stage a bigger and grander golf tournament dubbed the Phoenix Pulse Technoloy Amateur Golf Tournament on June 22 at the Cebu County Club (CCC) in Banilad, Cebu City.

Now on its third year in Cebu, the amateur golf tournament for 24-Above players will shell out P1 million cash prize, a Harley-Davidson Street XG750, two Tata Manza Petrol Cars and P100,000 worth of Phoenix Petroleum fuels and lubricants as the hole-inone prizes.

The participants will get the chance to win one of these prizes when they hit an ace in the par-3 holes in the 18-hole tournament organized by Phoenix Petroleum for the benefit of the Phoenix Philippines Foundation.

One of the additions this year is the inclusion of the Team division, where each team can have a maximum of five players but only the best four scores will be counted.

“We are also happy to announce that this year is our 10th anniversary since we started this tournament in Davao City. This is our third year in Cebu and we are planning to do this in Luzon next year to make it a nationwide event,” said Phoenix Petroleum golf organizer Liloh Evangelista in a press conference at The Henry Hotel yesterday.

Atty. Raymond Zorrilla, the company’s SVP for external affairs, business development and security, said that the foundation focuses on education, livelihood, environment and outreach programs.

Zorilla stressed that in their project for education they have around 8, 000 students and 23 adopted schools nationwide.

“We want to give the underprivileged to have a fighting chance in life through education,” he said.

Phoenix Petroleum is also doing medical and dental missions and international coastal clean ups, he added.

From 120 participants last year, the organizers are expanding the number of entries to 250 and they arleady have 197 participants. /
