Reluya to face PB today

-

San Fernando, Cebu Mayor Neneth Reluya will attend today’s session of the Provincial Board (PB) to shed light on the P12.5-billion port project that she stopped in her town.

The mayor was asked to appear before the legislative body through a resolution authored by PB Members Raul Bacaltos, Yolanda Daan ug Edsel Galeos.

Mayor Reluya welcomed the invitation, saying it will give her a chance to explain why she decided to suspend the project.

“Sa mo-attend sa session ugma (today), diha sila makakita kon unsa ang tinuod nga nahitabo,” she told Superbalita Cebu.

Reluya said she will present documents to the body that will back her decision.

“I am telling them that I am on the right track,” she said.

Ruben Feliciano, president of the First Sangat SF International Port Corp., earlier filed criminal and administrative cases before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas against the mayor, her husband and Panadtaran Barangay Captain Ricardo Reluya, and Teodoro Genaro Abastillas, president of Melekon Contractors, Inc., for violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Feliciano accused them of conspiring to stop the project even though they have complied with requirements.

Reluya, however, said that she ordered the project stopped due to the discrepancies in the requirements submitted, including the Environmental Compliance Certificate that was issued in November 2016 when the endorsements from the Municipal and Barangay Council were issued in 2017.

Reluya hopes that the PB will do something about the controversy. /
