‘Bomb maker’ only meant to scare his partner who left him

-

The bomb blast victim in Barangay Buagsong, Cordova is not associated with any terrorist group, according to a high-ranking police official.

Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, the Police Regional Office 7 director, said yesterday that Alejandro Novo Pil has been involved in a gang and the latter made dynamites as his group felt threatened by their rivals.

Before the explosion last Friday night, investigation showed Pil, allegedly a drug user, had something else in mind.

Sinas said investigators recovered a pack of suspected shabu from Pil, 33.

Pil reportedly planned to use the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to scare his live-in partner, who had decided to end her relationship with him.

The woman ran outside the house when Pil lit the fuse of the bomb. He threw it toward her, but it hit the door and bounced back to him, then exploded.

Sinas described Pil’s condition as “very critical” and confirmed he had undergone surgery. He lost his right hand and suffered serious injuries in different parts of his body.

The police official said they will go after Pil’s cohorts.

Several components for bomb-making including common nails and chemicals were recovered from Pil’s residence, along with bullets, a caliber .357 revolver and a .45 pistol.

Pil will be facing charges for the violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and RA 9516 for illegal possession of an explosive.
