As part of its Keep It Green (KIG) initiative, Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) started another reforestation project, planting more than 20,000 mangroves in the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental. Tristan Las Marias, FLI’s senior vice president for Visayas-Mindanao, said the project is envisioned to be the company’s tradition of giving back to nature. Other reforestation projects they will undertake in the future will be in Davao and other parts of Mindanao, in keeping with the company’s environmental advocacy.

Filinvest continues to sustain its Keep It Green (KIG) initiative, the company’s environmental advocacy.

Following the launch of the KIG initiative in Cebu in December 2017, the company embarked on another reforestation project, planting more than 20,000 mangroves in the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental. This project is envisioned to be the company’s tradition of giving back to nature.

“We have chosen this project knowing the importance of mangroves in our coastal and marine ecosystem. Mangroves not only provide nursery grounds and food for fish and other sea creatures, they also protect coastal communities from storm surges and currents. That is what we aim to achieve here, to help protect the coastal ecosystem and the community living around it,” Tristan Las Marias, Filinvest senior vice president for Visayas-Mindanao, said in an interview.

Las Marias added that the company is honored to partner with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office or Cenro of Cebu and Dumaguete.

“They have been in the forefront of mangrove protection. We believe that the real challenge after we plant these mangroves is its preservation. With Cenro as our partner, we are assured that what we planted here today will be protected and maintained for the future generation,” Las Marias also said.

Filinvest vows to continue its environmental activities.

“We are committed to expanding the KIG movement across Visayas and Mindanao with reforestation projects in Davao and other parts of Mindanao slated in September this year,” Las Marias added.

I’m partial to Jeunesse Anion that provides a reprieve from odor, stain and leaks. Most importantly, it stays where it should be. In fact, my daily must-have is the panty liners to keep me fresh and worry-free. All variants, especially with wings, are also consistently reliable for my day-to-day grind whether at work, home or on the run. CARLENE AGUILAROCAMPO
