Female CCPO chief ‘qualified for the position’
An operator.
This was how Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Debold Sinas described Senior Supt. Royina Garma, who is the new and first female director of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
“She is a good replacement,” he said.
Senior Supt. Joel Doria, outgoing CCPO director, said he had a talk with Garma last Thursday and described his successor as qualified for the position.
Doria thanked the media, community, government officials, and his police superiors, including Sinas, for his successful two-year stint in CCPO.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said Doria is a difficult act to follow and described him as “the best CCPO director.”
Doria and Sinas paid Osmeña a courtesy call yesterday.
“He’s going to be relieved. You don’t want to stop his career path. He’s the best. We worked very well together. He catches even the small pushers like he has a fishing net,” the mayor said.
The mayor, though, has no directives or expectations from Doria’s replacement.
Doria, in a separate interview, said CCPO’s anti-criminality campaign and war on drugs will continue despite his departure.
“There’s much to do pa but ginipit tayo ng time. We have to abide by the rules na police lang talaga tayo. I believe yung papalit sa atin will continue naman yung ano ang nasimulan,” he said.
Changes is also expected to happen in PRO 7 next week after Chief Supt. Franklin Moises Mabanag, deputy regional director for administration (DRDA), retired from the service yesterday.
The order from Camp Crame appointed Senior Supt. Dennis Agustin as the new DRDA effective on July 1.
Senior Supt. Angelito Dumangeng is Agustin’s replacement as PRO 7’s deputy regional director for operations.
Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee was appointed as the directorial staff chief, succeeding Dumangeng.
I have no directives yet. Just let her do her job. TOMAS OSMEÑA Cebu City Mayor
