San Francisco upstaged the North Division defending champions Consolacion Sarok Weavers, 7762, to end the 2nd Governor’s Cup Inter Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament semifinals on a high note in the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex last Thursday night.

The San Francisco players were on a tear in the fourth quarter to put away the Sarok Weavers and snatch a third victory in the four-team single-round robin semifinals.

Kenny Rogers Rocacurva poured in 15 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter to lead San Francisco, who put up 25 points in the final quarter against the 10-point output of Consolacion.

Reynaldo Almacin Jr. added 16 points and Jake Laurence Gonzales contributed 15.

The game, a preview of the North Division Finals, was a seesaw battle in the first three quarters. San Francisco led by two points after the first quarter but Consolacion made it 40-all at the half and 52-all after the third quarter.

Emmanuel Villamor scored 13 and Patrick Montano added 10 for Consolacion, who dropped to 1-2 (win-loss) record and figure in a three-way tie with Bantayan Island and Medellin in the standing.

The organizers used a point-differential format to break the tie, and Consolacion will move on to the North Division Finals thanks to its quotient of +16 points against Bantayan Island’s +4 and Medellin’s +3.

Game 1 of the best-of-three North Division Finals will be played in San Francisco, and the next game will in Consolacion. If there will be a deciding Game 3, it will be played on neutral ground. The playing dates will still be finalized. /
