MCIA TERMINAL 2 STARTS OPERATIONS
Starting at 2 a.m. today, all departing and arriving international flights will pass through Terminal 2
“Be friendly, be world-class and be the owner of this airport.”
These are the three reminders Louie Ferrer, president of GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp., gave employees of Terminal 2 in the Mactan Cebu International Airport during its blessing yesterday.
In his speech, Ferrer urged those present to show tourists how warm and friendly Cebuanos are. “I challenge you to make it a point to befriend a passenger, share a table, share a seat,” he said.
Ferrer said that airport workers should show tourists that the Cebuano is world-class, citing as an example the talent of furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue. He also urged airport workers to consider the facility as their own, so that they will always keep it clean.
Bishop Dennis Villarojo of the Archdiocese of Cebu led the blessing, attended by other priests at 10 a.m. yesterday.
Ferrer recalled the first time they started operating the facility in November 2014, when they had Halloween-inspired check-in counters.
“We started changing people’s expectations of airports and we have been doing that ever since. Tomorrow (today), we celebrate another first. Our terminal 2 is opening and it’s not only opening a terminal. We open friendships, we open opportunities, we open adventures, we open perspectives, we open growth, and all of those things,” Ferrer said.
