■ USC’S CEBUANO STUDIES CENTER HOSTS SEMINAR ON TEACHING CEBUANO LITERATURE
Scholars, experts and educators in the field of literature will gather at the University of San Carlos Talamban Campus from July 16 to 18 for the “Teaching Cebuano Literature: A Seminar for Educators.” The seminar is being organized by the University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The University of San Carlos (USC) Cebuano Studies Center, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, will host the “Teaching Cebuano Literature: A Seminar for Educators” on July 16 to 18.
The activity, which will be held at the Rigney Hall in USC Talamban Campus will bring together scholars, experts and educators from diverse backgrounds to train teachers and offer them innovative ways and approaches of teaching Cebuano literature.
The seminar will feature lectures and demo teaching presentations on the different historical periods.
A highly esteemed roster of lecturers include Haidee Emmie Palapar (precolonial period), Trizer Dale Mansueto (hispanic period), Joanalyn Gabales (american period), Liean Haney Rama (post-war period), and Cindy Velasquez (contemporary period).
“The Center aims to assist in the development of critical reading and teaching of Cebuano literature on the primary, secondary and tertiary levels in the light of the reformation in the K-12 curriculum,” said Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu, Cebuano Studies Center director.
Regular registration at P1,500 for the two-and-a-half-day seminar is going on at the Cebuano Studies Center on LRC Building at the USC Talamban campus.
Registration only covers the kit and certificate of participation. The campus cafeteria and an assortment of eateries close to the campus are available for lunch and snacks.
