‘Maria’ in PAR today

Typhoon Maria may enter the Philippine Area of Responsilibity (PAR) Monday morning, July 9, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Landfall in any part of the country remains less likely.

The weather bureau said that Maria may enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), which will bring rain over Luzon and Panay Island until Tuesday, July 10. Occasional rains are expected over Metro Manila, western sections of Calabarzon and Central Luzon, and the rest of Western Visayas.

Pagasa advised the public to take measures against possible flooding and landslides due to heavy rains. It expects Maria to leave PAR on Wednesday morning.
