Ithought I could move on. Wrong. I can’t. The finger-pointing, easy to dismiss. But the circumstances surrounding the incident? They keep pestering like flies in summer.

It’s been a week already since the “basketbrawl” hit us. The world cried, slamming not just the Australians but us as well. Just right. Ugliness is something humankind has detested since Creation.

There are ready answers to some questions on why it happened.

But many more queries have remained unanswered, and may end up not fully answered in the end.

Why did R.R. Pogoy barge into an Aussie with a clear forearm assault?

And, not contented, why did he deck the Aussie next with a similar forearm attack?

And did Pogoy’s uncalled for acts trigger the attack on Pogoy by Aussie Daniel Kickert, sparking a free-for-all?

Were you glad the “basketbrawl” didn’t result to a “baskillball?”

Have you not seen that Aussie crouched on the floor, ready to be pounced on by beasts on the loose?

Have you prayed enough that it didn’t happen?

Imagine a possible fatal ending to him had a Fil-Am surnamed Rike didn’t shield him from a mob gone mad?

Wasn’t a poor Pinoy recently killed by fist blows in the Czech Republic?

Will the nine Gilas players and four Aussies thrown out of the game be still allowed to play in the second round of the Fiba World Qualifiers?

If no—and most probably, no—will the Fiba allow a replacement for them?

When the nine Gilas players are finally meted punishment, will Fiba penalties include suspensions as to bar them from playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)?

Which brings us to the question: Is the PBA under Fiba?

For, come to think of it, if you are a PBA player and you decide to play in a Fiba tournamet, will that mean Fiba rules superseding PBA rules and regulations?

Can the Kiefer Ravena doping case that grounded Ravena be cited for Fiba to also suspend the nine “basketbrawlers” from PBA play?

Both the World Doping Agency (Wada) and Fiba are world sporting bodies and so, can they encroach on the local associations’ inherent right to discipline their own wards?

The list is long but that would be all. For now.
