‘Drunk’ Canadian to face charges for ‘attacking’ Pinay

-

A Canadian national was arrested by the Mabolo police for allegedly assaulting a woman in front of parking lot of a mall in Barangay Hippodromo last Sunday afternoon.

Jaja Vino, the alleged victim, posted in her social media account about a certain Benjamin Besaw, a Canadian, who called her names while she was on her way to buy some items.

“A drunk Canadian citizen punched the front and back of our car. I got out asking what that was for. He replied saying, ‘All Cebuanas are prostitutes. What do you want? How much? I want to have sex with you tonight,’” Vino said in her Facebook post, which provoked more than 4,000 reactions and 1,000 shares as of Monday.

In an interview, Vino, who comes from Pampanga and is a finance student in one of the universities in Cebu City, believed that the foreigner was drunk.

“He was holding the traffic because he was walking back and forth. I got off to check our car and I noticed na wala namang problem so I asked him, ’What was that for?’ He didn’t like it told me to stop complaining,” Vino said.

She has stayed in Cebu City for 5 years.

Vino told Besaw that she would take a video of what he said, which led the latter to punch her.

She sustained a bruise on her arm and was also kicked in the stomach.

That led to a chase where Vino asked for help from a driver of Scorpion taxi, Euvin Jimena.

Besaw also punched Jimena in the back and caused bruises.

SPO3 Jeffrey Larrobis, an investigator of the Mabolo Police Station, said that Besaw will face charges for slander and physical injuries against Vino while another case for physical injuries will be filed for his hurting Jimena.
