Ilano wins PSBC July title

Bede Ilano snagged the final slot of the Bowler of the Year Tournament after winning the July Bowler of the Month title in the Philippines Senior Bowlers-Cebu Chapter (PSBC) last Sunday in the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad.

The 17-handicapper Ilano scored 1,318 in a six-game series to win the monthly qualifying tournament for keglers aged 55 years old and above.

Cerge Go, a 57-handicapper, up 1,298 points to finish in second place, while 41-handicapper Pol Torremillano took third place after scoring 1,229.

Ilano dominated the tournament and recorded the day’s best score, 276, in the second game, followed by another solid score of 235 in the next game. He fired 168, 211 and 157 in the final three games. Ilano started the game with 169 before he got the lead in the second game.

Completing the Top 10 were Sal Bolongan (1,215), Roger Asumbrado (1,212), Boy Co (1,209), Clifford Tan (1,208), Fritz Rosenvinge (1,200), female bowler Tessie Dante (1,199) and Romy Mauro (1,193).

The PSBC 2017-2018 Bowler of the Year Tournament will be played on July 22 at the aforementioned venue. All the qualifiers on the previous months will battle it out for the annual championship. /
