CRIMSON’S SLIPPER EVENT RAISED P336T FOR EDUCATION

The event solely depends on volunteers, sponsors to support its operational costs and requirements

Project Happy Feet Slipper Race, where over 300 participants walked in slippers around the one-kilometer jogging track and completed team challenges, raised P336,500 for Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon Program.

Organized by Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan, the slipper race is a fundraising event started by Project Happy Feet Ltd., a Singapore-based non-profit organization whose project principle Crimson adopted.

This requires 100 percent of the registration fee of the event to be given to the chosen beneficiary, which must support education and training of children.

To date, the program has supported 12 scholars since it started in 2013, providing not only tuition, but as well as monthly allowance, books and school supplies, clothing allocation and social worker assistance for sustained monitoring.

Each year, the games and tasks change so repeat teams will continue to be challenged.

The stops for this year’s race featured some popular team games like balloon worm, tricky ball track, obstacle relay, build a pyramid and mine field, and each must race against designated time limit per game to complete the challenge.

The race started with the onekm. ceremonial walk, which was meant to help participants understand better what students and children, who have to walk three to five kilometers to go to school, endure.

Competitive spirit

When it was time to play, the teams showed their competitive spirit in accomplishing all six pit stops that required teams to coordinate among group members to efficiently accomplish the challenges.

Emerging victorious were teams from Lanex USA, who finished third; Sykes Asia Inc., securing the second place, and this year’s champion is New Sports Watersports Inc. team who finished the six obstacle race in 59 minutes.

The event solely depends on volunteers and sponsors to support its operational costs and requirements.

This year’s event has been supported by the resort’s suppliers and friends in the industry.

Event sponsors included the Philippine Air Force, Chroma Hospitality, Cebu Daily News, Y101, Belcris Foods Inc., Cebu Artshoppe, Philippines Spring Water Resources Inc., Alcordo Advertising, Memento Photo Booth, PLDT Business, Globe Telecom, Pevonia, Optima Typographics, Dragon Fireworks, Allegro Beverage, Fantaztic Fine Foods Corp., Meatland Traders Corp., Alternative Foods Corp., Asian Wave Seafood Corp., Richel Fish Vendor, Ric Fish Dealer, The Swiss Deli Davao, All Filipino Foods Inc., Aldrigel Farms Corp., Sonia’s Store, Chony Fruit Stand, Limketkai Manufacturing Corp., Miles Marketing Services, Mariano & Sons Marketing Inc., Dynamic Unimarketing Corp., Dranix Distributors Inc., Promiseland Marketing, Classic Seascapes Resort Town, Mactan Island, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu 6015 Philippines Fine Foods Philippines Inc., The Italian Food Specialists Inc., Knorr, Lady’s Choice and Profoods Inc.
