Demi Lovato grateful to be alive
Demi Lovato is ready to live again.
According to E! News, the 25-year-old singer said she was “very grateful to be alive” and that she is going to enter a rehabilitation program again to get better.
Lovato was hospitalized Tuesday for apparent overdose. But a source told E! News it wasn’t heroin, as most publications reported.
Lovato has been open about her drug and alcohol addiction in the past. She also admitted to harming herself. She previously entered a rehabilitation program.
Early this year, she celebrated six years of sobriety.
Last month, though, fans were concerned that she had had a relapse after she released the song “Sober.” In the song, she apologizes to her mother for not being sober anymore, and to her dad for the drinks spilled on the floor.
According to an eyewitness, Lovato and her friends were drinking at a bar Monday night and they stayed until closing time.
“Demi wasn’t like super sloppy or wasted, definitely was drinking though,” the source said. “Her friends were cheering her on when she took a shot.”
They were apparently celebrating a choreographer’s birthday. When the bar closed, the party continued at the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer’s home.
Another source claimed that Lovato had been partying with her tour entourage for months and that her home had become an after-party centrale.
“She had been partying for 12 straight hours and it caught up with her,” yet another source told E! News. “This was going on for a few weeks and the warning signs were there. She slipped up and thought she could handle it. This is obviously a huge wake-up call. Demi doesn’t want to die and she’s very grateful to be alive. She will be leaving the hospital and heading straight to rehab. Her family has been by her side supporting her and is getting her the help she needs.”
Wilmer Valderrama, Lovato’s ex-boyfriend, was spotted visiting her at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was recuperating. He reportedly stayed for over two hours at the hospital last Wednesday afternoon.
Lovato and Valderrama dated for six years ending in 2016.
“He was somber and quiet and you could tell he was in a very serious mood. He arrived and left by himself,” the source told E! News about the “That ‘70’s Show” actor’s visit.
Another ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, reacted to Lovato’s alleged overdose.
“Like all of you, I am thinking of @DDLovato right now,” Jonas tweeted. “She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are, Demi. #prayfordemi.”
E! News also reported that former BFF Selena Gomez was distraught over Lovato’s situation.
“When Selena found out the news about Demi, she was very upset and emotional,” a source told E! News exclusively.
The two have not been close for some time but they reconnected last year at the InStyle Awards. They starred together in “Barney and Friends” in the early 2000s.
