Cacoy Doce Pares World Tourney today

The SGM Cacoy Cañete FMA Festival-World Eskrima Championship kicks off today in the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Around 130 participants are expected to compete in this world-class arnis event that also features visiting arnisadors from different countries.

Some of the countries represented are the USA, Canada, and Australia.

The arnisadors will compete in both forms and sparring categories.

The event started last Monday with an FMA Workshop in the City Sports Club, while the weighin and the final briefing took place yesterday in the Golden Prince Hotel.

Today will be the formal opening ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by the forms competition in the Robinsons Galleria Cebu. Later in the evening will be the Hall of Fame ceremony along with the welcome dinner in Golden Prince Hotel.

The sparring category will be held tomorrow in the City Sports Club at 8 a.m.

The event is hosted by Cacoy Doce Pares Worldwide HQ in Cebu and is supported by the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Sports Commission.

The late SGM Cacoy Cañete, one of the original members of Doce Pares that was founded in 1932, added his knowledge in different martial arts to the traditional style of Doce Pares and named it Cacoy Doce Pares to make it distinct. /
