Manual for right living

- E. Germino of Paknaan, Mandaue City

The proper use of the Bible is to study every verse. The Bible is a manual for right living. The Bible contains the history of God’s people and Gentiles. There are bad people, good people and perfect people there.

We study the evil lives of the bad people in order to know how bad they were and to avoid imitating them. We study the lives of good people so that we will learn how to be good.

If you are sincere and honest in reading the Bible, you will be enlightened and become a better, if not perfect, person. If you have a hidden selfish agenda in reading the Bible, you will be confused.

Because if you seek for the truth only, you will find it. But if you seek for the truth that favors your group, you will be confused all the more.

You have to classify the words in the Bible. There are dead words and also living words. There are historical truths as well as eternal truths.

Some laws in the Bible become obsolete because God repealed them.

The Bible is manual for right living for those who want to do the right thing. It is also a manual for evil, for those who enjoy doing evil.

I believe Adolf Hitler had read the Bible. The term “nazi” was derived from the word “Nazirite” mentioned in the holy book.

However, the book of Jesus Sirach, one of the Deuterocanonicals is a very good book. It has 50 chapters and have everything about life.

But when you read the Bible, don’t think of creating a new religion. Because there is only one true religion in James 1:27. All the rest are false.--Chito
