Dance Sport Team Cebu International Inc. launches video docu competition DANCESPORT SA SUGBU

-

In the field of Dance Sport alone, there is a wealth of heart-tugging stories on the dance floor; stories of struggle and triumph that go beyond just winning trophies: A teenager frees himself from a predestined fate of drugs and crime, refusing to follow the trap that his two older brothers fell into. A young girl finds comfort among her fellow athletes as she fights stage four cancer fueled by a dream of continuing to dance.

There is much about life one can learn here, and it is best these stories are shared to inspire others. In line with this, Dance Sport Team Cebu International Inc. is inviting filmmakers to join the first “Dance Sport sa Sugbo” video documentary competition.

The theme to be tackled is “How Dance Sport Transformed Their Lives” and the films are to feature athletes who will compete in the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) Cebu Open 2018 and 10th Dancesport Sa Sugbu at the Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Sept. 8. The film can narrate how the athletes prepare for the competition, the struggles they face, leading up to the World Dance Sport Competition. The grand prize for the winning film is P30,000.

“Filmmakers eligible to join can be commercial or non-commercial, amateur or professionals. They just need to submit a duly accomplished application form (forms are available at the Dance Sport office), a brief resume and two photos. Registration deadline is this August,” said Ron Tan, “Dance Sport sa Sugbo” video documentary competition committee head. Official Identification cards and t-shirts will be provided for access to the Dance Sport venue. The final produced entry must be submitted in two formats: HD (one copy in a USB flash drive) and DVD on or before Oct. 5, Friday at 12 noon.

Criteria for judging the films: Cinematography 10 percent, Audio 10 percent, Editing 10 percent, Originality 10 percent, Style 10 percent, Direction 10 percent, Overall Content (Logic and Sequences of Scenes, Relevance to the Theme, Genre Choice and Appropriateness, Entertainment Value, Informative and Educational Value) 40 percent.

Registration fee is at P1, 500. For more details, contact the Dance Sport Team Cebu International Inc. secretariat at 260-1850 or 0923-563-9110 and look for Jenette Flores. / PR

?? ?? It is a competition for a cause that serves as the culmination activity of hundreds of child trainees (mostly lessprivileged). The event provides an opportunity for these trainees to get a first-hand experience of what it is like joining a professionally officiated dance competition in the hope that the exposure will instill in them selfdiscipline, self-confidence and self-worth. This experience will inspire the children to train harder and aspire for a better future.
