SHOW PROOF, WE’LL INVESTIGATE: PNP

High-ranking police officials in region, city challenge mayor to prove his allegations of hitmen arriving in Cebu from Negros Oriental

-

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 denied allegations of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña about hitmen from Negros Oriental now in Cebu, five of whom were reportedly police officers, and challenged him to support his claims.

Senior Sup. Angelito Dumangeng, deputy regional director for operations, said they don’t know where the mayor got his information.

“We deny the allegations of our good mayor. We do not know where he got his information. If he can support his statement, he must show it so we can investigate,” Dumangeng said.

On the issue that there was a cover-up in the death of SPO1 Roderick Balili, Dumangeng said there is no such thing.

“Our RD (regional director) already issued a statement. There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by our Regional Investigation and Detection Management Branch. Wala tayong kino-cover,” he said.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Senior Supt. Royina Garma also denied that one of her men is a hitman, as alleged by Osmeña.

“No, not true. I’ve validated it already, not true,” she said.

Garma said that she would like to talk to with the mayor about the information he received.

But Osmeña said he has no plans of giving details to the police.

“One of the most important things is to let the public know. Don’t fool the public. The things you (the police) are feeding the public are ridiculous,” he said.
