Police tries to serve warrant for Peter Lim twice

-

Police teams went to a home in Barangay Kasambagan and another in Barangay Banilad, both in Cebu City, in search of Peter Go Lim. He wasn’t in either.

If they don’t find the Cebuano businessman in 10 days, said Mabolo Police Chief Dindo Alaras, the police will inform the Makati City Regional Trial Court, which would then issue an alias warrant of arrest, which would have no expiration date.

Lim was indicted last Aug. 10 for conspiracy to trade illegal drugs with self-confessed drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa and several others. Police called on Lim to surrender and face trial.

Personnel of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) failed to find Cebuano businessman Peter Lim when they served his arrest warrant yesterday afternoon.

The warrant issued by Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 55 Judge Gina Palamos last Aug. 14 was served in two residences---on Tres Borces St. in Barangay Kasambagan and in a subdivision in Barangay Banilad.

Lim was indicted last Aug. 10 for conspiracy to trade illegal drugs with self-confessed drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa and several others.

Police called on Lim to surrender and face the charges filed against him.

CCPO Director Royina Garma said they received a copy of his arrest warrant last Aug. 16.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Debold Sinas said they have to serve the warrant as part of judicial procedures.

RTC Branch 55 had tasked the Mabolo Police Station commander and “any officer of the law” to arrest Lim and bring him to the nearest prison or police station.

The order requires arresting officers to present Lim to court within 10 days.

Afterwards, police will report to RTC Branch 55 that they have served the warrant.

The court will then issue an alias warrant of arrest, which has no expiration and can be served anywhere in the country.

According to intelligence reports, Lim is no longer in his main residence, Garma said.

Rosalie Bacalla, caretaker of Lim’s house in Barangay Kasambagan, told the police led by Mabolo Police Chief Dindo Alaras that she has not seen her employer for a long time.

Lim, she added, has not visited the property since she joined the family 10 years ago. Only Lim’s mother is in the house, she added.

Police also searched Lim’s entire house in Barangay Banilad, but he was not home. Only a caretaker and house helpers were present when police arrived.

Alaras said that if they fail to locate Lim in 10 days, they will send the arrest warrant back to the court, which will then issue an alias warrant of arrest. /
