Tech-Voc Day to focus on infrastructure program

-

The Technical Education and Skills Development Training Authority (Tesda) and the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) urged employers and job seekers to join in the jobs fair to celebrate the National Tech-Voc (Technical-Vocational) Day on Aug. 25.

In a press conference, Tesda Negros Oriental Provincial Director Floro Ringga said this is what they called World Cafe of Opportunity (WCO) in relation to Republic Act 10970 that created it.

Ringga, the chairperson of WCO, said that WCO offers job linkaging and networking services and is one of the strategies of linking Tesda graduates/alumni to employers.

Tesda Acting Bohol Provincial Director Carlito F. Quintano said that WCO is a mechanism which highlights the celebration of the first National Tech-Vic Day as mandated by Republic Act (RA) 10970.

“It is just a jobs fair, but the only difference of WCO from the normal jobs fair is that WCO is sector-focus. This year the focus will be on the construction sector where both the employers and the job Tecseekers are under the same sector,” Quintano said.

In a press conference, Dole 7 Director Johnson Cañete said the jobs fair this time will focus on the construction sector in relation to the “Build, Build, Build” program of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We at Dole (Department of Labor and Employment) cannot provide jobs but can facilitate, and to make way on how to give opportunity the labor force especially the unemployed and the underemployed. We want to give them decent jobs,” Cañete said.

He said that because of the Build, Build, Build program of the President, all the graduates from Tesda in the construction training can be given immediate employment.

He considered the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) as the “feet and arms” in the cities, towns and provinces because it facilitates jobs opportunities.

Fidel Magno of Peso and the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) in Cebu City said there will be 48 employers who will participate in the jobs fair on Aug. 25.

“We are implementing the programs of Tesda and Dole,” Magno said.

Dole 7 Director Johnson Cañete said the jobs fair this time will focus on the construction sector in relation to the “Build, Build, Build” program of President Rodrigo Duterte.
