PSWRI completes solar installation

-

Cebu-based Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc. (PSWRI) has completed its solar installation project.

Solar energy solutions provider, UGE Philippines, announced that PSWRI is already solar-powered, with 1.26 megawatts installed in its facility.

UGE said it had previously installed 475 kilowatts (KW) of solar panels at PSWRI last year.

PSWRI is the local manufacturer and distributor of Nature’s Spring bottled water.

UGE has contracted 3.5 MW of solar for three PSWRI facilities across the Philippines, which will generate a total of 4.0 million kWh of solar energy annually.

These installations will give the company savings of more than P20 million each year.

“Nature’s Spring is enjoying the benefits of solar, both reducing their demand from the local utility, and securing low cost energy for the next several de- cades,” said Tyler Adkins, president of UGE Philippines.

Since committing to solar energy last year, PSWRI has emerged as one of the top industrial users of on-site renewable energy in the country.

The Department of Energy’s 2040 goal is to install 20 gigawatts of solar power. It has already installed five GW.

“The Philippines’ vast solar resource makes it an ideal place for businesses to utilize the sun’s energy to improve their bottom line,” said UGE chief executive officer Nick Blitterswyk, in a statement.

“Businesses that adopt solar energy will realize significant competitive advantages through the generation of clean, reliable energy for years to come,” he added.

Adkins said they are seeing a solar revolution, especially now that the cost of solar energy has gone down rapidly. They expect more industries and businesses to switch to clean energy. /
