TISA HS RECEIVES E.LAB FROM VECO
To date, Veco has rewired a total of 3,434 classrooms since 2010
The lack of equipment for technical-vocational classes is one of the challenges faced by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the implementation of the K to 12 basic education program.
To address this and in fulfillment of its commitment to advance business and communities, the Visayan Electric Co.(Veco) Inc., together with Aboitiz Foundation Inc. turned over a refurbished electrical laboratory or e.lab to Tisa National High School in Cebu City last Aug. 13.
As a counterpart to the project, the school used its own funds to purchase equipment for the laboratory.
The refurbished e.lab will make learning a better experience for the 80 electrical installation and maintenance (EIM) students of the school.
“I challenge the teachers and students of Tisa National High School to fully utilize this electrical laboratory,” said Veco chief operating officer Anton Mari Perdices.
Dr. Bianito A. Dagatan, Cebu City Schools Division superintendent, accepted Perdices’ challenge and lead the EIM students in the pledge to make use of the laboratory to enhance their learning experience.
In 2014, Veco also donated welding and culinary equipment and refurbished the culinary and welding rooms of the Don Carlos A. Gothong National High School.
Veco is an active partner of DepEd, implementing different projects geared toward improving education, including a project that upgrades the electrical wiring system of the different public schools within its franchise area.
On the same date, Veco also turned over its 89th rewiring project to Alaska Elementary School.
To date, Veco has rewired a total of 3,434 classrooms since 2010.
The non-energy community outreach programs of Veco are key in promoting education, environment and community development within its franchise area.
The corporate social responsibility activities of Veco are geared toward guiding the youth.
