UV beats Ateneo in Milo SBP finals
The University of the Visayas (UV) dethroned defending titleholder Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) to win the SBP title in the Cebu leg of 33rd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo over the weekend SHS-AdC Mango Avenue Campus Gym.
UV led all game long and finished with a convincing 49-33 beating of SHS-AdC.
Denver Cyrus Bisnar led UV in scoring with 11 points along with two rebounds and a steal. John Mark Toring added nine points, while Marc Rodelle Abangan chipped in seven.
Renzo Keanne Zanoria lead SHS-AdC with nine markers, two boards, two assists, two steals and a block. Brent Reynier Suico contributed seven.
UV will represent Cebu in the regional finals of the tournament.
Meanwhile, UV and SHS-AdC Lux Oriens remain unbeaten in the Passerelle division.
UV beat SHS-AdC Magis, 46-38, with Neil Fajardo leading the charge with 15 points, while Christian Jay Alilin had 10.
SHS-AdC Lux Oriens crushed Abellana National School (ANS), 49-32, thanks to the 17 points of Uriel Avila.
In the other Passerelle division games, Sisters of Mary School Boystown beat Cebu Eastern College (CEC), 45-39, while Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) walked away with a 45-38 overtime win over Southwestern University-Phinma. /
