-

Have a story to tell but can’t figure out the telling?

Seize this chance to write your own poem and perform it in a friendly environment with newbies and poets who can guide you from page to stage.

Learn more about the craft of performance poetry from Loudmouth Collective’s John Ilagan.

John Ilagan is a Filipino-American poet and has been writing spoken word, taking the page to the stage, since his early years of college in California, USA.

In 2011, he moved to the Philippines to study architecture at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. However, between assignments, plates, and projects, the writing and performing continued.

Spoken word poetry is the lovechild of poetry and theatre.

It is a performance art that draws from multiple skills and traditions.

Performing spoken word is a great way for you to express yourself, as well as hone talents that you might find useful in other facets of your life.

It’s a small group, hands-on workshop and it’s going to be on Sept. 1, Saturday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the The Center Suites, Escario Street, Cebu City.
