Miranda, Osada rule divisions in Cetba bowling

Micmic Miranda and Emi Osada ruled their divisions in the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) Friday Group Bowler of the Month Tournament August Edition in the SM City Bowling Center last Friday.

Miranda, a 20-handicapper, knocked down a total of 1,114 pins in the five-game series to top the men’s division.

Osada, a 36-handicapper, pulled off a close win in the women’s division after scoring 1,035.

Rey Velarde and Tony Torres were the runners-up in the men’s division after scoring 1,042 pinfalls and 1,019, respectively.

Miranda opened a solid start in the monthly competition as he scored 225, 236 and 209 in the first three games.

He slowed down in the final two games with 171 and 173 but that was still enough to give him a 72-point win.

Contrary to the men’s division, the female bowlers had a close battle for the August title.

Osada escaped with a narrow win over senior bowlers Baby Bacon and Cynthia Uybengkee.

Bacon scored 1,031 for second place, while Uybengkee earned third place with 1,030.

Bacon struggled at the start of the game with 135 but was able to recover with 182 and 189 in the next two games before finishing the tournament with 162 and 177.

The champions in the Cetba Friday Group Tournament will clinch a slot to the finals set in December. /
