SINAS WANTS HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH NBI
It’s nothing personal. This was what Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Debold Sinas said on the issue of the police’s relationship with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 after the latter filed administrative and criminal complaints against three Carbon policemen for the death of four-year-old Skyler Abatayo. “Once this will settle down, I will visit him personally and discuss things,” Sinas said of NBI 7 officerin-charge Dominador Cimafranca, although the charges were filed during the previous leadership. Sinas assured that the police will forge a harmonious relationship with NBI just like what they did with other law enforcement agencies like the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. “We will give each other a chance. We could always work with anybody,” said Sinas. Last month, the NBI 7 filed criminal and administrative complaints against Carbon Police Chief John Kareem Escober, PO1 Wilbert Perez and PO1 Rey Van Dadula. Abatayo died of a stray bullet that pierced his chest while he was playing inside his room in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita last July 10. The police said that the bullet that hit the boy didn’t come from the operatives but was fired by the alleged drug personalities that they pursued during the incident. It was former National Bureau of Investigation 7 Chief Patricio Bernales who filed the complaints. Bernales was reassigned to the bureau’s office in Northern Mindanao two days after the complaints were filed.
