1 of 65 relieved cops positive of drug use
The police officer who was among the 65 relieved Talisay City Police Station officers last Sunday for their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade tested positive of drug use for the second time.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Debold Sinas yesterday identified the policeman as SPO1 Darwin Gonzales.
He said Gonzales tested positive again last Wednesday, the first day of the 30-day moral recovery program held in a police camp in Sibonga.
The first drug test that tested Gonzales positive of illegal drugs was given last Sunday, the day Sinas visited Talisay City Police Station to tell the personnel about-their relief.
Gonzales’s urine sample was submitted to the crime laboratory for a confirmatory test, which confirmed the earlier results.
The sample of the second drug test was submitted again to the crime laboratory for confirmation.
said Gonzales will undergo a summary hearing procedure before he can be charged with an administrative complaint. The process will take two months to complete.
The police chief of Talisay City, Supt. Marlu Conag, was surprised that Gonzales tested positive of illegal drugs.
“I never had any suspicion about him since I always based it on the drug tests we conducted earlier. He was always cleared every time we had a drug test at the station,” Conag said.
Conag said Gonzales was first assigned as desk officer when he was transferred to Talisay City.
When Conag ordered a reshuffling of personnel in his station, Gonzales was transferred to the traffic police division as one of their investigators.
