Wrong use of the Bible

-

The Bible contains the story of the Israelites and the foreigners living with them. The Ten Commandments and all of God’s laws and commands are the laws of the world.

We Filipinos and the other non-Israelites are the foreigners living with the Israelites in this planet. As such, we are duty-bound to obey God’s laws because these are also applicable to us.

We should not worship any person living or dead and any kind of image because that is plain and simple idolatry. We have to obey God’s laws completely because God promised blessings for obedience.

There are many false claims and lies said by the pioneer of the organized religions about the Bible. Among the false misrepresentations are these: One, when you read the Bible, God is talking to you. Two, when you read the Bible now, God is talking to you now.

The events in the Bible happened one at a time. Messages in the Bible were not written simultaneously. There were earlier messages and later messages.

We should segregate the words in the Bible in such a way that God’s words and Jesus’s words shall prevail over and above the words of prophets, disciples or apostles.

There are historical truths and everlasting truths. When God introduced Jesus, he said, “Listen to him.” So Jesus’s words should prevail over and above the words of any Biblical writer. Jesus said, “Turn away from your sins and do not sin again. Be perfect like my father in heaven is perfect.”

We should not tolerate the wrong use of the Bible.--Chito E. Germino of Paknaan, Mandaue City
