2 women arrested, P1.3M worth of shabu seized

Shabu worth more than P1 million was seized by police in Sitio Puntod, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City lat 6:32 p.m. last Monday.

Police identified the owner of shabu as Divine Mijares, 25, from Sitio Puntod.

She is not in the watchlist of the police.

Mijares was arrested in a buy-bust by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of Mambaling Police Station led by Chief Insp. Randy Caballes, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency ( PDEA) 7.

Seized from Mijares were three medium packs and three large packs of suspected shabu, and P11,000 buy-bust money.

The shabu weighed 90 grams valued at P1,062,000.

Mijares was detained in Camp Sotero Cabahug since the Mambaling Police Station has no jail cell for women.

In Talisay City, a “drug queen” was also arrested in a buy-bust the other night inside Queensland in Barangay Lawaan.

Rowena Cavalda, alias “Wenay”, 43, from Sitio Rattan Barangay Tanke, Talisay City was caught with five medium packs of suspected shabu worth P322,000.

Also seized from her were P8,000 buy-bust money and drugs paraphernalia.

Cavalda was arrested by a joint team led by Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Provincial Drugs Enforcement Unit (PDEU). In the team were personnel of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and the Regional Mobile Force Company 7. Batobalanos said they had been monitoring Cavalda for a week.

They found out that her husband is also in jail in Talisay City for drugs.

Cavalda’s supplier is identified as “alias Gwapo” from Cebu City.

Cavalda disposes of 80 to 200 grams of shabu per week in Talisay and neighboring ares.
