CNU marks eight years of community service
Cebu Normal University (CNU) recently held the E-HELP Life Festival in celebration of its E-HELP (Education, Health, Environment, Livelihood and Peace) program’s eight years of service last Sept. 2, Sunday at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu.
The event exhibited nine projects of E-HELP’s program that anchored on the delivery of education, health, environment, livelihood, and peace services in the communities of Medellin, Balamban and Consolacion, Cebu.
One of the projects that were exhibited was the “Kita sa Di Malata: Cash from Trash,” a project that aims to transform trash into cash. The program trains residents of the participating communities on how to make products out of non-biodegradable materials.
Products made out of non-biodegradable materials ranging from bags, home-decors, artificial flowers and a lot more were on display at the venue. Students, as well as shoppers, were amazed on how seamless the products were; unrecognizable, made from trash. Another project to note was the Caputatan Norte Health Team: On the Forefront of Community Services, which trains barangay health workers with health skills such as blood pressure taking and health education.
Other projects that were exhibited: Dengue Awareness, Prevention and Control Measures, Mugna: A Cultural Care Giving, Bantawan ni Juan: A Cutural Presentation Project, Enhanced Oral and Written Communication with Barangay Officials, Math for NAT (National Achievement Test), Friend Ko, Teacher Ko: A Peer-Tutoring Program, Caputatan Instructional Intervention Project (CIIP).
