LGU, FIRMS DONATE P5M TO NAGA TO HELP EVACUEES IN CENTERS

Talisay City, firms Kepco, Salcon Power Corp. hand checks to Naga City Mayor Chiong More than P5 million worth of cash donations for those affected by the landslide in Barangay Tina-an were received by the City Government of Naga, Cebu last week.

City of Naga Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong assured that the cash donations they received will be used for the evacuees’ provisions.

The Talisay City Government turned over a check worth a million pesos to the City of Naga at 9 a.m. yesterday.

Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas, Vice Mayor Alan Bucao and department heads went to the City of Naga yesterday to turn over the check and three trucks filled with relief goods.

The Talisay City Government was the first local government unit, so far, to make a donation to the City of Naga.

In the afternoon yesterday, power firms Kepco and Salcon Power Corp. (SPC) also turned over a check worth P2 million to Chiong.

Representi­ng Kepco were president and chief executive officer Jong Ryoon Yoon and planning and finance manager Sang Hung Lee.

SPC was represente­d by its president and chief executive officer Dennis Villareal.

In an interview, Mayor Chiong assured that the money will be used to help sustain the evacuation efforts, especially after the National Housing Authority (NHA) announced that it may take three to six months before permanent housing could be provided for the affected evacuees.

Chiong thanked the local government units and various groups for the donations in their time of great need.

She assured that they will be very transparen­t in every donation they received.

Chiong said official receipts are given by the city treasurer to donors who provide cash donations to the city.

She also promised to provide a list of donations that will be posted for public display at City Hall.
