Boxer faces physical injuries plaint

-

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 filed criminal charges against a local professional boxer, who allegedly attacked a member of a prominent family in Cebu City outside a bar in Barangay Kasambagan last August.

Lawyer Dominador Cimafranca, NBI 7 chief, filed the physical injuries complaint before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor against Julius Erving Junco, a licensed professional boxer trainer at the Omega Pro Sports International.

Junco and his unidentified companion attacked businessman Martin Lorenzo Nable outside a bar, breaking the victim’s nose and forcing him to undergo surgery due to a nasal bone fracture.

Nable’s family owns a chain of hotels, including the Montebello Villa Hotel in Cebu City and the Costabella Tropical Beach Hotel in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. Nable also manages Pueblo Mexicano and Fat Cow Burgers and Malts.

In his complaint-affidavit, Nable said he and two of his friends went to the Rumour Gastropub in Barangay Kasambagan past midnight of Aug. 11.

When they arrived at the parking area, Nable said he and his companion went to the bathroom while their other companion parked the car.

Nable said they returned to the parking lot and started talking. Someone tapped his shoulder, he said.

When he turned around, the man, whom he later identified as Junco, punched him in the face.

Nable said he fell to the ground. He tried to stand up, but Junco allegedly kept on punching him.

The attack only stopped when Nable’s female companion intervened.

Nable said he was confined in the hospital for five days. Two of Nable’s companions also executed their affidavit corroborating his testimony against Junco.
