For commuters, the biggest dilemma they face daily is the notorious traffic. Adding more to their frustration is the difficulty in accessing public utility jeepneys as they always get full.

While the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project is still underway, alternative solutions are sprouting. Several modern city buses are roaming around the metro and commuters may not be fully aware about them yet. Here are some modern city buses specially designed for commuters’ welfare and convenience.

Cebu myBus. These buses can accommodate up to 90 passengers including standing passengers. It is PWD-friendly, GPS and CCTV-enabled, making it a safe, secure and friendly transport service around Cebu. Passengers must purchase the MyBus/ePLUS Card to pay for their fares. Some routes allow cash payment; however, one must prepare the exact change. The bus fare is around P20 to P40 depending on the route. The main terminal is located at SM City Cebu.

Robinsons Galleria Cebu shuttle. Robinsons Galleria Cebu might just be the place to tick off one’s to-do list with its array of essential stores. What’s more interesting about the mall is that it offers free rides through its shuttle services. These 30-seater shuttles ply routes coming from Talamban, Guadalupe, Lahug, Banawa and Robinsons Fuente. It’s convenient and totally free.

Sugbo Tours. Sugbo Transit Express (Ceres Liner / Sugbo Tours) plies from the Cebu South Bus Terminal to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport–Terminal 2. Just like the Cebu myBus, the Sugbo Tours bus is PWD-friendly, GPS and CCTV-equipped. It has free on board WiFi too. Each bus can be occupied by 42 to 90 passengers, including standing passengers. The minimum fare in between stops is P25. Currently, four buses are utilizing the CSBT to MEZ 1 route at P40 fare. /
