MALUBOG GUN IDENTIFIED

BJMP 7 says gun found near bodies of slain men in Malubog was that of a jail officer who was ambushed last June

-

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Director Arnold Buenacosa has identified the owner of the .45 caliber firearm that was found near four bodies in the crime scene in Barangay Malubog, Cebu City last Oct. 4.

Buenacosa said the gun was issued to JO2 Eran Maquiran.

The BJMP 7 is coordinating with the Cebu City Police Office to deepen the investigation to consider that one of those killed in Barangay Malubog may have been responsible for the ambush of a BJMP vehicle July 20 this year. Maquiran, along with another jail officer, was transporting three inmates when they were ambushed by at least five men.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Debold Sinas said they will see if those killed were linked to the ambush.

“Basin sila to ang kauban sa nag-ambush didto or nag-atang didto nga namusil (Maybe there were one of those responsible for the ambush and shot the vehicle),” said Sinas.

The men took the guns of Maquiran and JO3 Clay Gutierrez and fled.

Because of the confirmation that the gun that was found in the crime scene in Malubog was owned by a jail officer, who died in an ambush, the PRO 7 strongly believe that drug personalities in Central Visayas are now at each other’s neck.

Sinas said the drug groups probably think they have traitors among them, especially after a spate of police operations in Cebu. The groups, he said, have their own hitmen, and some of them are probably active police officers who are involved in drugs.
