Babanto relishes sweet exit
Cebuana Rinna Babanto, a former world champion and regular campaigner for the Philippines in international meet, calls her final stint in the UAAP the sweetest exit.
“Being awarded as the first ever MVP in poomsae was way better than I expected. I gave my best and God did the rest,” said Babanto. “I am so grateful and blessed to have this award, I’ve always wanted to receive an award like that for a long time and now it’s in my arms now. Sweetest exit indeed.”
Babanto helped the De La Salle University taekwondo team win the trophy last Nov. 6 and was named the event’s first ever MVP, ending her five-year stay in DLSU on a high note.
Babanto, who won a bronze medal in women’s poomsae in the Asian Games, credited the support of the DLSU for her success.
“What can I say about my five years representing La Salle is that it was very challenging. The whole DLSU community is very supportive which helped us boost our performance and also our academics,” said Babanto, a sports management student of DLSU. “Of course, my Team and coach, we always showed that no matter what challenges we’re going through during our preparation and in competitions, we always keep encouraging and supporting each other because we are all willing to reach our goal together. We made history together and we will keep making one.” /
