Tablea offers guilt-free sweets

-

In support of Diabetes Awareness, Tablea Chocolate has launched a month-long campaign called “Orange Goes Blue” wherein a line of light desserts will be made available on its guilt-free menu all throughout November.

On offer are low-sugar cakes such as the blueberry cheesecake and bundt cake, low-sugar crunchy cacao beans in 50- and 150-gram packs, and sugar-free black chocolate drink which can be served per cup or in a set with Tablea’s specialty puto maya and fresh mango. The menu also has a low-sugar spread collection (sugar-free peanut butter, a low-sugar choco spread, and a low-sugar choco + peanut butter spread) and a sugar-free and low-carb bread loaf.

Tablea Chocolate has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from every order of the guilt-free goodies to benefit the Sweet Alert Society Inc. and its activities. The group was founded by St. Theresa’s College high school batch 1970, which Tablea Chocolate chief executive officer Armi Garcia is part of.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the Sweet Alert Society will hold a World Diabetes Day conference at the Cebu Chinese Chamber of Commerce. All women of child-bearing age can pre-register at their respective barangays for this event. There will be talks on various topics such as gestational diabetes, who are at risk, and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Dr. Marian Dinopol of Sweet Alert Society said diabetes is the sixth killer in the Philippines. “Nobody dies of high blood sugar levels; they die because of its complications. But being diabetic does not mean you can no longer eat. Just eat wisely. Eat with a conscience,” she said.

As the universal symbol and color for diabetes is a blue circle, Tablea Chocolate has also decorated its interiors with blue accents, placed blue donation jars in all its branches, and let its staff wear blue support pins. In addition, the cafe has partnered with Food Panda, Honestbee and Grab Food to make ordering more convenient for its customers.
