-

New-York based Global Finance magazine recognized Security Bank Corp. (SBC) as the Best Bank in the Philippiness.

This is the first time that a medium-sized bank has bested the bigger banks that dominated the category for the past years.

Global Finance also recognized former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. as one of the world’s best central bankers for eight years out of his 12-year stint.

“At a time of unprecedented change in the financial services industry, Global Finance’s annual Best Bank Awards continue to deliver a consistent evaluation of financial industry performance, whether in developing products to meet emerging financing needs or designing digital platforms that speed and enhance services,” said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance.

“The winners are world-class leaders, responding adeptly to shifting political winds, new technologies and changing market conditions,” he added.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), Security Bank’s strategic partner since 2016, was also recognized by Global Finance as the Best Bank in Japan and Best Corporate Bank for 2018.

Security Bank launched new investment products this year, which include the Asia Pacific Feeder Fund, the US Equity Index Fund and the Global Equity Index Feeder Fund to support its financial markets arm. It likewise enhanced its products such as the All Access Account with free life insurance, Small Business Loan, Salary Loan Advance and Human Switch Kit, under its retail banking arm.

The World’s Best Bank Awards 2018 “honors those banks with the qualities that clients should look for when choosing a bank. The winners are not necessarily the biggest banks, but rather, the best. They are banks that attend carefully to their customers’ needs, often in difficult markets, and accomplish the best results while laying the foundations for future success for themselves and their customers.” /
