Senior citizens get final aid tranche
An early Christmas gift awaits around 69,512 qualified senior citizens in Cebu City.
Each elderly will get P2,000 on Saturday, Dec. 1. It represents the tenth and last tranche of their P12,000 cash aid for this year.
Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs Head Lourdes Limpangog said the amount will cover the months of November and December.
“The reason for that is that December is the closing of books, meaning we have to fast-track our liquidations as required by the Commission on Audit,” she said.
The half-day simultaneous distribution in the 80 villages will start at 8 a.m. This will be held in local barangay gyms and public schools.
Limpangog reminded the beneficiaries to bring their identification cards to the designated distribution centers in their barangays.
Some City Hall employees will also distribute the financial assistance of some bed-ridden seniors in their homes.
“If we run out of time and there will be some bed-ridden beneficiaries that will not receive their cash assistance on Saturday, we will just continue the distribution on Monday, Dec. 3,” Limpangog said.
If a senior citizen fails to get his or her financial assistance on Saturday, he or she has 10 working days to claim the money at the City Treasurer’s Office.
