‘King of entry-level smartphone­s’ enters PH market

A new smartphone brand, Realme, has entered the Philippine market with a cellphone called the “king of entry-level smartphone­s.” Realme announced Thursday, Nov. 29, it will be competing against giant smartphone brands in the Philippine­s starting this December.

The brand was launched in India last May and in only four months, over a million cellphones were sold, according to Realme Philippine­s chief operating officer Jacky Chen.

During Realme’s official launch at Bonifacio Global City on Thursday, Chen introduced Realme’s entry level smartphone--Realme C1.

Designed to redefine the entry-level smartphone range in the Philippine­s, the Realme C1 boasts of a 4230mAh mega battery, which can last up to two days; a Qualcom Snapdragon 450 Octa-Core processor; 2GB RAM; 16GB storage; a 4G dual-SIM support, plus a microSD slot.

The Realme C1 is also equipped with a 6.2-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass--“the first large sized notch full-screen smartphone in its price segment.” It also has a 13MP + 2MP rear cameras and a 5MP front camera.

It is available in blue and black. The Realme C1 will be available in the market this December for P5,990. It will be offered at a discounted price of P5,490 on Dec. 5 at noon via Lazada.

Realme was establishe­d on May 4 this year by its founder, Sky Li, and a group of young people who have experience in the smartphone industry across several countries.

The brand has entered six countries in Southeast Asia, including India and Indonesia, since May.

Its mission is “to let the youth from all over the world enjoy the pleasant life brought about by technology and beauty at a more reasonable price.”

Realme is formerly a sub-brand conceived in 2010 under Oppo. /
