I want to thank all the members of Finex Cebu, especially the 2018 Board and Officers for all your support and hard work this year. A lot has happened this 2018. The months passed quickly, and, at times, making it through the whole year seemed like such a daunting task. Yet, here we are. All our achievements would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the whole team to invite guest speakers, solicit sponsorships and invite new members to join the Finex Cebu family. This year, we held two economic briefings to help us navigate through the disruptions and uncertainties in our economy. We also had significant updates on the developments in the Visayas Region and a session on Lean Finance for our GMMs, in line with our theme of “Transforming Today for a Sustainable Future.” For our fellowship activities, we had an excursion to the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park, as well as the mid-Autumn Festival Celebration. For the Professional Development of our members, we conducted income-generating seminars on good corporate governance; the BIR Implementing Regulations under TRAIN Law; and recent updates on SSS, Philhealth and Pag-IBIG. Our division was also well-represented during the 50th FINEX Conference in Manila. As part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives, we organized an outreach program with the My Refuge House in Naga as our beneficiary. For the future finance professionals, we provided them assistance during the Cebu Federation of JFinex Convention and the 20th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition. Challenges for the next year continue to be strong membership and active engagement. As always, we need new members to grow and have an even wider reach. We likewise need to continue engaging our members by encouraging participation in meetings and projects. I am honored to have served as President for this past year. I would like to congratulate and give my best wishes to the 2019 Finex Cebu Board. We are blessed to have a handsome, talented and dynamic new President for 2019 in the person of Mr. John Thomas Anthony “Niño” B. Nanquil. I ask that you give Niño and the new Board the same support you gave me and the current Board. With your presence and cooperation, I know that you can help them make Finex Cebu even better. Thank you and happy holidays to all! JOYCE L. SO Outgoing FINEX Cebu President

Warm greetings to all our FINEX CEBU colleagues and friends!

My congratulations, first and foremost, to the elected and appointed Directors, Officers, Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs, and all other incoming officers of FINEX CEBU Affiliate for 2019. Your new role echoes the welldeserved recognition of your leadership capabilities entrusted to you by your colleagues and constituents, as well the vote of confidence that you can make a relevant contribution to the attainment of FINEX’s noble mission and objectives. Your acceptance of your new position is a personal testimony of your faith in yourselves, the personal conviction that you are an embodiment of FINEX’s core values and that you, your intellectual contributions and physical efforts, your passiondriven advocacies, and your professional excellence and integrity are your personal legacy. As finance leaders of our time, it is imperative that we always put our best selves forward, radiating from within the light of inspiration to our business community, proactively engaged in matters that will foster economic and professional upliftment not only of our organization, but of our country. With the holiday celebrations soon approaching, families—whether of personal, social, academic, or professional associations—gather round and take time to look back on the events that have transpired and the achievements delivered in the past year. Let us take this time to instead look forward and start shaping what FINEX 2019 will be: spearheading the advancement and transformation of the country’s financial ecosystem into a future of sustainability and progress. It is my great pleasure to greet FINEX Cebu on its 32nd Induction Ceremony, just as it is my utmost honor for having served you all as FINEX President on its golden year, 2018. A blessed 2019 to all! MS. MARIVIC ESPAÑO OUTGOING FINEX PRESIDENT CHAIRPERSON AND CEO P&A GRANT THORNTON I want to thank the Finex Cebu family for the trust that you have bestowed upon me to lead the group in 2019. I am humbled, as I see myself as a newbie with so many things yet to learn from the experts who I am with, But as they’ve said, no one is prepared whenever they are called to serve. For 2019, allow me and in behalf of the BOD, to be able to fulfill our duties and give back to the community what is expected. We have a daunting task to make as we follow the footsteps of our predecessors. I am blessed to have a good roster of stewards who I know we can all rely on. President Joyce So, our past presidents, current and the incoming board, and fellow members, I am grateful in advance to the support knowing that you will fully provide us with your wisdom and experience. 2018 has been a fruitful year for FINEX Cebu and most notably the things that we were able to accomplish. As we move forward, I exhort that we continue to live the Vision of FINEX Cebu and that we bring forward our Mission while we are embodied and grounded by our core values. And with the Christmas Season already filling our hearts, I pray Peace, Hope, Joy and Love fill your homes. Congratulations to the outgoing and to the incoming FINEX Cebu officers! Merry Christmas and Mabuhay! NIÑO B. NANQUIL Incoming FINEX Cebu President
