Sunday blackout in 1 city, 14 towns in Cebu’s south
An 11-hour blackout will take place on Sunday, Dec. 9, in 15 localities where electricity is being supplied by the Cebu Electric Cooperative (Cebeco) 1.
This, as Cebeco 1 is set to replace a dilapidated electrical post along the 69-kilovolt line from the City of Naga to Sibonga town.
Due to the 11-hour power interruption on Sunday, eight out of 15 barangays in Carcar City, where water is being supplied by the Carcar Water District, will experience low pressure to no water supply.
Sonon Dakay, Cebeco 1 radio tender, said the power service interruption would run from around 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
But in a statement, Cebeco 1 officials said there is a possibility that the power interruption will end earlier than scheduled as long as unavoidable circumstances will not occur.
Aside from Carcar City, also affected by the 11-hour power interruption are the towns of Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Barili, Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal; all barangays in Badian except a portion of Matutinao; all barangays in Malabuyoc except Cerdeña; all barangays in Alegria except Inghoy and Valencia; and all barangays in San Fernando except Balungag, Tubod and Tabionan.
Once the power interruption starts, water supply in eight barangays in Carcar City such as Poblacion 1, Liburon, Canasujan, Perrelos, Tuyom, Valladolid, Ocaña and Guadalupe will be affected as well.
In an advisory, the Carcar Water District urged their clients, especially those living in the eight affected barangays, to store an ample supply of water in preparation for the water interruption.
