‘Tanderstruck?’ Country’s iconic singers ready to rock memory lane with concert in Cebu

The Philippines has had three hitmakers who made the ‘70s extra special with their music: Rey Valera, Nonoy Zuñiga and Marco Sison. The three renowned singers are ready to put up a one-of-a-kind concert dubbed “#TandersLane,“together with Giselle Sanchez, on Jan. 18, 2019 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Sanchez, the only Cebuana in the group, said #TandersLane is going to be different from the usual concerts. The concert will be like a musical where it will be telling a story. The plot is still yet to be revealed, however, Sanchez said she will be “the thread to patch the three ‘tanders.’” The concert was supposed to be entitled “Priority Lane,” but according to Valera, there were a lot of complications in the story, so they changed it to “TandersLane” instead. “Tanders” is Filipino slang for “old people.”

Despite being “tanders,” the three stars show no signs of slowing down. The 64-year-old Valera shared that joking about his age does not offend him at all. He said that aging 60 years old and above is not embarrassing but rather a thing to be proud of since it means that you are more experienced in life.

Concert-goers can expect original songs from the three. Sison will belt out some of his classic pieces: “My Love Will See You Through,” “Si Aida, Si Lorna, O Si Fe,” “Always” and “Make Believe.” It will be a concert that their fans will surely enjoy as they get to sing-along with their favorite classic songs.

As for me, rice cakes represent togetherness. As a people we need to stick together. We need to protect one another from anyone who will take advantage of us.
